The city of Sugar Hill is located in northern Gwinnett county and lies between the city of Buford and Cumming, off State Route 20 between GA 400 and I-85. Sugar Hill legendarily got its sweet name when a train going from Buford to Cumming tipped over dumping a huge shipment of sugar. Thus the moniker "Sugar Hill."
